Brexit: Sealing requirements

Since January 2021, a lot has changed in doing business with the UK. We have listed the correct seals to support you in this situation and have your company well prepared. Read which seals you can use and what the seals for your export shipment should comply with.

Safeguarding and securing your cargo is the primary purpose of sealing. Placing a seal helps to prevent fraud, smuggling, discussion, and theft of the cargo. There are numerous types of seals, but each seal has its own purpose. When transporting cargo to the UK, all conditions must be met. Various Transposafe seals meet the requirements set by the UK. Would you like to receive tailor-made advice on this? Contact a specialist.

Sealing requirements for export:

  • The seal must be attached to the entire shipment (e.g., pallet, IBC drum, or container).
  • The seal must be visible and identifiable to customs inspection.
  • Customs must approve the seal prior to travel to the UK.
  • Each seal must have a unique number.

Below you can find the seals that comply with the laws and regulations within the UK.

Pallet security tape

Transposafe pallet security tape is designed for sealing sealed pallets and wooden crates. Pallet security tape has a unique numbering every 23 cm and leaves a permanent warning in case of (attempted) manipulation. Go to pallet security tape here

This red Security Tape with perforation is specially developed for the secure sealing and closing of cardboard, paper, and plastic packaging. When the red Security Tape is removed, a clear warning text becomes immediately visible. This security tape provides a tear line (every 15 cm), which allows the tape to tare at any desired length without using tools. For a conclusive procedure, the Security Tape features unique consecutive numbering every 15 cm. The unique number remains visible on the sealed surface after the Security Tape is removed. Go to Security tape including perforation.

When it is challenging to apply tape to the shipment, for example, the tape does not stick to frozen goods. A pull seal can be a solution. The Pull Seal is supplied on mats of 10, which leave no residue when removed. Thanks to these properties, the Pull Seal is very suitable for use in the Food Industry. The Pull Seal is ideal for use at temperatures of - 30 to + 40 degrees Celsius. Go to the Pull seal.

Cable seal 1.5

A cable seal is also an excellent alternative to Security tape, but not all cable seals are suitable for international transport. The cable seals with a minimum cable diameter of 3.5 and an ISO certification are ideal for international transport. Please note that the cable seal must be applied around the entire cargo. Click to go to the cable seal.

Seals that are applied on top of pallets or boxes (at the area where strapping crosses and strapping pierced with seals) are also available from Transposafe. This is the Cable-seal 1.5 and is ISO 17712:2013 certified seal in the category indicative seals. The Cable-Seal 1.5 is equipped with some unique features. Thanks to the housing with a longer entry port, you can apply the cable very easily. The entry port ensures that the cable can be pulled more tightly through the housing, reducing the risk of manipulation. This cable seal is very suitable for use in the transport of high-value goods. Go to the Cable-seal 1.5.
